Aage Nielsen was at the height of his design career in the 50's and 60's. Not as well known as some of his contemporaries, his designs were (and are) popular, and highly respected for their sailing performance.

There are several of his designs sailing along my coast. He drew a number of 40+' centerboard (see winch on house), yawls and sloops, like Levera.

As a young designer he submitted a plan to Rudder magazine in 1925. A quote in the magazine about this design said, "not an extreme craft in any way".

That quote might explain why his boats are still popular today.

That boom and it’s end fittings are exactly the same as my dad’s boat (Majek) which was built in 1966. A big chunk of wood! We still have the original boom, and my sister has the original spinnaker pole hanging above her porch. We changed to an aluminum boom when we added 5 feet to the mast in 1980.
