We really enjoy weekend cruising on the boat....however, in the fall & spring, it gets dark rather early & the foot level cockpit lights just aren't up to the task of illuminating the cockpit. Has anyone installed spreader lights? Where did you install them, on the spreader, mast, or boom? What wattage? Thanks for your input.

I installed one..

..on my 29.5. It is a dual porpose one flood light down and one light forward (white), a standard unit that can be found at West Marine, etc. you will need an extre wire thru the mast , which is difficult , unless mast unsteped (like I did).

I installed one 2..

regarding the place , it is about at spreader heigh (either a little above or a little lower), make shure that it doesn't get in the way of any (spinnaker pole)halyard or headsail (at tacks).

Two Lites

We installed two lites, one at the center of each spreader arm. Unfortunately, don't remember the wattage. They work great. Even with the bimini up they give off enough light to see in the cockpit. Russ Her Diamond Ring
