Take another look on the Photo Forum for the latest spring snow storm to hit. I posted pictures of the last snow several days ago. However, we got 24 inches of new snow yesterday. Some good 6-8 foot drifts. It could be awile until I sail. Wish me luck. Spring in South Dakota...You gotta love it!

All things being equal.....

Tom, Have you guys ever considerd noving to some place warmer like the northern coast of Maine?

Jay Hill

If you really like snow that much...

...consider visiting it. I'd move someplace where you have a longer season in the water then visit the snow if I missed it. (So far, I haven't missed it except for skiing which I take three-day winter weekends for. But then again, I didn't grow up in the snow, I just had to live in it for awhile while temporarily assigned to a region.) BTW, yesterday: 78 deg., 15-20 S; today: 84 deg, 10-20 NW yep, gotta love spring!

BTW Jayhill

Jayhill: On your weather synopsis we should have you do this in July/Aug and it will read something like: yesterday: 98 deg., 5-10 S, rel hum 92%; today: 101 deg, 1-2 NW, rel hum 97% yep, hate summer! (moving to Maine?)

rel hum is way off.

Under the green lawns and massive sprinkler systems, man made water systems (I think Texas has only 1 natural lake, if that), this area is after all an honest-to-God desert.

Greg, ya know what desert is?

Greg: Come on out to Nevada and see what desert is REALLY all about. We have humidity in the winter months that gets into the single digits. When we get some of those really humid days in the summer from the tropical storms that come up from Baja the rel. humidity soars up into the high 20's and 30's. I've been to Tejas in the summer IT'S HUMID!

It would appear.....

That you're talking about "relative humidity". It's not THAT low here. But it's not in the 90's. That would be Houston. I lived there for a couple of years but left because of the humidity and the relatives. (wife's from Houston) :)

It's a dry cold....

Anyway, that's what the Easterners say. I howled when John Candy (an Easterner) used that line in the movie "Cool Running". Tom, hook up and drive north to Saskatchewan. Ice is off the lakes, and the temps for the next 5 days are supposed to be in the high 60's or low 70's (Farenheit; 19°-21° Celcius). And for the disbelievers, here is the link to the Regina weather forecast. http://weather.ec.gc.ca/forecast/yqr.html Last Mountain Lake (just north of Regina) is about 60 miles long, just right for a weekend sail. And you'll be sailing past Bob Hope and Bing Crosby's favorite hunting grounds (back in the 1930's and 1940's). Strange, isn't it, to go NORTH to get away from the snow! Fellas, Texas and Arizona are nice places in the winter, but Saskatchewan is a paradise in the summer. Just ask all those Canadian snowbirds who winter in Texas and Arizona, but come home for the spring, summer and fall. You can even pick your geography: prairie lakes in the south, Canadian Shield lakes (crystal clear water) in the north, or transitional (pine trees, sandy shores, and crystal clear water) between. And the bonus: the U.S. dollar is worth about a buck and a half in Canada.

Let me see if I got this stright..

You people up in the mountians think it would be a nice break to come to Texas for the winter and We Texans haul our butts into the Rockies to hide from Texas summers. Hummmmm. Let's all move to Maine.
