around 50'
I just put a single line reef on mine: took about 60' (65' is definitively on the safe side). This measurement is for a single direct line, i.e. tied at the stern end of the boom, up to the reef cringle, down around the cheek block, forward to a cheek block at the gooseneck, up to the reef cringle. down to a block at the mast foot, and over to the deck organizer, finally to the clamp/winch on the cabin roof - with no pulley system to increase purchase. Before I installed the single line, I had a dual line setup with a cleat for the clew reef line on the starboard side of the boom and another cleat below the gooseneck for the tack reefing line.I wonder how you solved the problem of guiding the reef line down from the reef tack to the block on the mast foot: I installed a cheek block as far forward on the port side of the boom as the gooseneck socket will allow, but it invariably gets caught on the bunching up reefed part of the sail, chafing. Is there a way to install some fairlead on the gooseneck itself?Any advise would be welcome! Please respond to mosbergh@usa.net.Cheers,Hans
