Hunter 37-cutter Chicago
We have been casually looking around for a used mainsail for our 37-Cutter. I noticed on the Bacon Sails Website that they indicate that the "P" of the main for the 37-Cutter is 38.5 feet as opposed to the 39 feet 8 inch dimension shown on this website. The Bacon site shows 39.75 feet as the "P" for the other Hunter 37s. Has anybody measured their main recently?

Here are the measurements....

for the original 1979 H37C as I measured them: Main sail: Foot: 12'6" Leech: 40'3" Luff: 37'10.5" Yankee: Foot: 16'10" Leech: 34'10.5" Luff: 45'3" Staysail: Foot 9'6" Leech: 28'1.5" Luff: 30'4" Craig, I just installed, 2 weeks ago, 3 new sails that were made by Doyle in Chicago. The main is a full batten with a slightly bigger roach than the original main and the Yankee was cut also a little larger. With the old sails (main is blown out), I needed to reef for any wind above 11 knots and still had a lot of weather helm. With the new sails, I was out on lake Michigan last Monday in 15 knots of wind gusting to 19 in 6 footers with a full main and yankee without any uneasonable weather helm or excessive heeling. The boat is now well balanced. WHAT A RIDE !!! Richard S/V Rhapsodie 1979 H37C
