Length of halyards?

I've got to replace both the jib and mainsail halyards. Does anyone know what length these lines should be?Scott FraserKey West

H31 83_87 Halyards

When I replaced the Halyards on my '87 H31, I purchased off the shelf 7/16" halyards from West Marine, they have been working fine for several years.

Strong Suggestion...

...that you consider using a smaller diameter line. Large diameter line has a huge amount of turning friction. I use 3/8" halyards on my 35.5. That is plenty strong enough and easy to handle.

Don't use any larger diameter.

Hunter's original spec's called for a 1/2" main halyard x 110'. We found that it was binding so we stepped down to 7/16" and it works much better now.

I was just up the mast on my 1984, it is 42-0" from top of mast to top of deck, I am replacing my with 3/8.
