Hi all has anyone had any experience with a leisure furl on a first 47.7. I am thinking of making the jump to the system. Like to know what your experience has beem

My 47.7 came with the LeisureFurl.

We love it. We have a beautiful high tech main and it works well. Must have an electric halyard winch.

We sail short handed mostly and it makes is easy to hoist and lower the main. We never hesitate to sail.

The standard mainsheet system works the same with the LeisureFurl.

Love it when we stop to anchor for the night and it takes about a minute to put on the sail cover.

PM me for any specifics.

Hi, thanks for the reply. What size leisure furl do you have on the boat and what type of sail material do you use? Currently, my boat has all north 3dl sails.

So you have any performance issues is light air? What year is your boat? My haul number is #258.

My boat has Doyle Stratis sails, Doyle's version of 3DL's. No problem with the sail in the boom. Sets nicely with the mandrel. You will no longer have an outhaul or cunningham with the LeisureFurl. To flatten the sail, simply cleat the halyard and tighten the mandrel. Off the wind, simply loosen the tension on the mandrel and the sail fills out.

You will need to work with your sailmaker to either make a new main or modify your existing sail. The LeisureFurl has its own bolt rope and tack/clew requirements. No doubt, your North loft has made sails for the LeisureFurl before.

If you PM me your e-mail, I can send the document I have from Forespar for the boom. Reading the document, the model is referred to as 19/6.
