Does any of you could confirm me the size of shaft (diameter) and the size and pitch of the 3 blade propeller that came originally on a Hunter Legend 45 1988, with a Yanmar 4JH2-TE ?

Is this a 50hp or 60hp ?

And finally, we have a 3 blades J-Prop on it since we bought the boat, at first we were pleased, but now there's a vibration that we tried to correct unsuccessfully. My friend dived and found out that when he turns the blades full open he can shake them sideways pretty much, up to him too much loose, so that is certainly what causes the vibration. I don't think that we would try to "repair" this prop ($$$) so what replacement would you suggest ? No sure we would stay with a feathering either.

Thanks for your comments.

Noticed that no 45 owners have come forth with an answer. My suggestion would be to call Hunter( 386-462-3077 ). Or one of the larger prop manufacturers like Max-prop or Martec. They would have that information.

Thanks Ed, no reply from Hunter about the shaft and they told me they have never installed a 3 blade prop on this boat, only 2 blade !!!
Funny, never saw a boat that size with a 2 blade in any yard.

I guess I'll go with a prop company.

Thanks again

Andre: My understanding is that Hunter never installed a 3 bladed prop on any of their boats. It was usually a dealer installed option or a previous owner.

You really only want to use a prop shop to size the prop for your vessel.

Thanks Steve, I'm in the process of doing thst with Norm from West by North, I read great comments about the Campbell prop.

Anyone out there with a Campbell 3 blade on a large boat that could add their comments ?

Andre,
I have a 1991 P42 that has a 4JH2-TE in it, and it is a 62 HP engine. I can't help you with your propeller, since we have only had the OEM two-bladed propeller on it. Like you, I am having Norm make me a Campbell three-blade right now. He recommended a CS3RH18x11x1-1/4 for me, based upon engine and weight configurations. (The P42 dealer info puts it at a displacement of 24,000 pounds, but I estimate mine as outfitted and loaded w/water, fuel, etc at about 30,000 pounds).
