Legend 37.5 Stackpack help

Hey everybody,
I have my main off the boat for yearly maintenance and would like to construct one of the stackpack kits from sailrite before I get it back.

The problem is that it requires a couple measurements of the stack height of the main when flaked. I clearly can't do that with no main.

I was hoping someone else had done this previously or had a tape measure handy .

If you don't get a response from a H37 owner, ask Sailrite if they have records of H37 sailpack sales.

I wish I had cut my Sailrite stack pack a little taller than they recommended from my measurements. Overall a good experience with the project. Do buy the very best UV resistant thread. I had to re-stitch after two years in the sun.

You’re in FL. I guessing that means Florida. Generally FL is warm enough to have boats rigged of sailing. Can you visit a marina, find a Hunter 37 or similar and chat with the owner about measurements of his sail height on the boom?

When measuring the height needed for the stack pack, consider the condition of your sail. A very stiff sail will need the pack to billow out more than a softer sail. You'll need to keep that in mind if measuring another boat. The type of sail slugs will also affect the stack height.

My local loft was building me a new sail. He knew I was going to build my own stack pack and suggested I wait until the new main was installed so I could get the correct measurements. Luckily I had just built a new sail cover for a buddy and was able to use his old cover until I built the stack pack.

Here's a link to a post I did on building our stack pack. It might give you some ideas. @Hayden Watson also gave me several ideas from when he and his wife built their stack pack. He also talks about & shares photos of his "Pap-Pak" in my post.
One of his ideas I followed was to line the stack pack with sail cloth. It protects the sunbrella from chafe and being more slippery it allows the sail to slide into the pack easier.

As you hunted for your new boat, I would visit the docks in Florida looking for a boat similar to yours. Ask if you could examine their sail for sizing. I know if you approached me while I was on my boat and explained your challenge, I would welcome you aboard. Come prepared. Tape measure, camera, note pad, Bottle of thank you wine or beer. You might get away without the last item in the list, but on the other hand, you would likely make a new friend if you brought it along.
