While replacing the holding tank and hoses on our 1991 Legend 37.5, I found a "Y" on the hose between the head and the tank. One leg of the "Y" runs to the tank. The other leg is capped. The capped leg looks as though it would have run through the swim platform compartment and out the transom. My assumption is the "Y" was installed to facilitate overboard discharge where permitted, but not in the great lakes where I sail. The plan is to confirm our assumption and then not reinstall the "y". Is there any reason to keep the "Y" other than possible resale to someone who wants to move her to the ocean?

No reason to keep it

In fact, you'll be better off removing it because a) if it hasn't already seized from disuse, it will...and b) it's just an obstruction in the line that could cause problems later.
