My 1995 Hunter Legend 37.5 floats with five to seven inches of bottom paint showing at the bow and zero to one at the stern. Has the original gel oat molded-in boot stripe and the bottom paint is parallel to that. I bought the boat last spring and first noticed this mid-summer, though I cannot say if the condition was new then or I just noticed it. This is true even if the 70-gal bow water tank is full and the stern fuel and holding tanks are half empty. There are no significant owner modifications I am aware of. Any other Legend-series owners have this problem?

Rather than assume the lines were correct from the factory, I would want to check it against some other boats, and maybe put a call into Hunter and ask if they have any data on level/incidence angle of the boat sitting in the water. For example, static slope of cabin sole or cockpit floor, approx distance from bow and stern deck seam to water line, etc.. You can probably find enough pics online of other legend 37.5's to get a rough rough eyeball of approx measurements.

While not a Hunter, our boat does this, too. There's also a bit of port list, although each boat series if different. I've just learned to live with it, not an issue for me. If you're concerned about it, get a bigger anchor and a lot of chain. :):):)

when i moved my boat from the gulf of mexico to lake michigan, i was dumbfounded the first two years as my boat was floating higher in fresh water then salt water. the third year i remembered that i didnt reinstall my second anchor and 200 feet of chain. that chain and anchor had to weigh over 200 pounds!

I'm thinking you need some weight forward like duality alluded to. The 37.5 is pretty skinny in the bow so it does not take much weight.

Heavy bow .

My 1989 37.5 is heavier in the bow , I have moved a lot of equipment further astern but didn't affect that much . I have quite a lot of chain and a heavy Mansour anchor , plus a full tank of water . Must take my air conditioner out too(portable) . I haven't checked it when we have crew aboard but I would say it is much better , as it handles alright in a blow . Thinking about reducing some of the chain and replace it with rope .
