Left over mixed fuel

I have a couple of gallons of left over gas/oil mix (50:1) (with fuel stabilizer added) from my 2 cycle outboard. It is getting to be about 2 years old and I am afraid to keep it for another year. Any suggestions on how best to get rid of it? A friend suggested adding it to my car a gallon per tank full. Would this hurt my cars engine or will it be so diluted that it won't matter? I don't want to dump it and I don't want to use it next year.

I use it in my lawn mower.

I don't think I'd use it in the car because some of the anti-wear additives in the 2 stroke oil could poison the catalytic converter..Lawnmower is a good option .. or a sneaux blower.. or any other small 4 stroke or two stroke.. best to mix it with straight gasoline if going into a 4 stroke.

I also would not put it into a modern car gas tank and using 2gal might take a long time in a lawn mower. I would try to contact your county toxic waste disposal site and see if they will take it. I used to do that with my old gas/oil mix when I had an OB. Also, some fire departments will take stuff like this to use for fire fighter training purposes.

Gasoline is like liquid gold. I feel the same way that you do about using old gas. Don't you know someone who could use it? Every year I had been saving my old gas. I'd add stabilizer to it and use the gas in the following season. My engine ran with it. Last year I gave my gasoline away and I cleaned my tank out good and let in hang upside down to air out over the winter in my shed. This spring I gassed up my truck and also my 6 gallon outboard fuel tank right from the same gas pump at a local station that I go to and guess what? Both my truck and my outboard was coughing, spitting and stalling---with new gas! This also happened to a few other people that I talked to who gassed up at a different station. So go figure. There running great now, but the gas must have had water in it. This Ethanol crap attracts water. I would give it to someone, or wait till next year and shake it up good and add it a little at a time to some new gas until it's all used up. Some cities and towns have a certain day set asside each year in the spring time for hazzarous waste disposal. Find out when and where for liquid waste disposal.

Every year we have this topic...my only request as a mechanic is, if you put it in your car, when the car acts up, or the check engine light comes on, tell your mechanic what you did, it will save him a lot of grief. Seriously, give it to a gardener, he will appreciate it, and it won't hurt his motors, it can damage oxygen sensors, injectors, catalytic converters, even fuel pumps and senders. And if it does cause problems, you no longer have 2 or 3 gallons to get rid of, you have 20 or 30.

Give it to a gardener...... that's what I did. Don't forget to have him return the container.
