For those of you that are fed up with corroded and burned out tail light bulbs. Now is the time to convert to LED's. I am totaly sold on them and after changeing to them wonder why it took so long. They last longer, are brighter and use less current.

Boat trailer light units are as good as their

ability to seal water out. The plastic lenses become brittle, crack under vibration, deform or out right break when hit. If you can guarantee that them LED bulbs and their connectors will not short out when encircled by water I may consider them. I'm not impressed by their usage of less power as when in use it is connected to the tow vehicle. Their brilliance is an advantage but by itself does not offset the cost of 4 times over what the regulars sell for. Truckers are going to LEDs but they do not dunk their lights under water.

I installed LED's on my trailer

this spring. Got the entire setup, 2 tail/rear sidemarker lights, 2 amber front clearance lights, and the 3 lamp wide load clearance lights on ebay for $69.95. Installation was easy, I just had to drill a couple of holes for the tail lights. I used butt connectors that have the built in heat shrink tubing with adhesive sealant. Just crimp them on and hit it with a heat gun, instant waterproof connection. I am very happy with the conversion. The stock lights on the magic tilt trailer are cheap crap, always falling apart and burning out. Drove home at night without lights more than once before I changed them. The LED's are bomb proof and much brighter than the stock ones. Short of backing them into something and smashing them they are indestructo. Practical Sailor did a review a while back on LED's and couldn't break them. They even drilled holes in the lens and let them fill up with salt water. No failures. Here is a link to some Wesbar lights that will fit the 240 and 260 magictilt trailers. The price for these is $80.00 plus $10.00 shipping, but I found the same kit for $70.00 a few months ago.

AARGHHH!

Sorry, the link was too long and doesn't work. Anyway, go on ebay and search for LED trailer lights and you will find them. The Wesbar low profile lights or the Peterson piranah low profile lights will fit.

lED lights r the best !

I too was plaqued with cheap trailer lights and converted over to LED's last year, I spliced, solder and used "liquid tape". working fine now, nice and bright. well worth the cost. I also made a new wiring harness and plug. Nothing like ending a day of sailing and knowing your trailer lights are working properly while your driving home in the dark, Happy ,Happy !

I got a white LED tail light bulb and socket at

Shucks Auto Supply, added a switch and a lighter plug, and I have a dandy low draw light for reading, work light, anchor light, car camping light etc. It's.....brilliant.

Complete LED trailer light kit $39 Harbor freight

Picked up a set of these 6mths ago at the local Chinese tool shed, AKA Harbor Freight. I pick and choose from their offerings pretty carefully because most stuff is only marginal quality to total crap but these seem fine and the price is right. Order on-line or search for a local retail rickshaw near you;). http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=94137 Be safe and have a fun summer, Michael
