LED lights...
sound like a good idea. I read they use less than 10% the current of filament bulbs. I haven't tried them yet but you might check Digi-Key on the "Related link". Do a search on "LED lights". They have a good selection of LED replacement bulbs. You may be able to find a subsitute for your boat. Be sure you get the same or greater candela from the fixture (not just the bulb) so it still meets coast guard requirements.Another source if you have excess cash to spend is:http://www.deepcreekdesign.com/You may want to visit RadioShack and get a book on LED circuit design (extremely simple) and start experimenting. And a DIY article is here (related to Deep Creek):http://www.chebacco.com/articles/chebacco6.2/article.htmIf you want to know what a candela is look here:http://www.natmus.dk/cons/tp/lightcd/light_cd.htm
