LED lights - save power

For those interested, I've replace all my light bulbs in my H31 with 24 LED surface mount devices that simply plug in to replace the existing bulbs.

Power usage drops from 500 mA (eg 0.5 Amps per light) to around around 1/10th (or 10%) 60 mA with a brighter cool white light.

No changes to the original Hunter light fittings, just push these little beauties in.

From what I can see from the fuzzy backside picture, it is a resistive LED.

That means that there is no voltage regulation, current or linear.

They work well when only using the battery but be carefull when the charging system turns on and the voltage goes to 14.5 - 15 volts.

They will start getting warm or hot.

There are many threads on this website regarding LED lighting.

I did a thread using Chinese made LED's and adding a linear regulator to maintain the 12volts to the light no matter what the charger was doing.

Ebay is a great source for cheap LED's but caveat emptor :D

My boat had fixtures that needed pins out of the side and some out the back. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong type. They helped my return the order and sent the correct bulbs with no additional charge. The biggest savings in energy came from a new anchor light that used an LED. Saved a ton of juice. I can't recall who made it but it was really expensive and it was made in Italy (I think). Seems to be twice as bright as the old automobile type bulb/fixture.

I am considering doing same with our Hunter 31. I have found the 15 LED bulb 2 pin, but no 24 which I think would be better. I will give them a call and see if they have the 24 pin. Has anyone changed the Hunter fixtures in the roof?
I am looking to change mine out with the recessed ones. Plus add a couple of extras between the existing ones. :)

You are correct, they are located in Earth City, MO, but they do not handle any walk in sales. I just could not find the LED 2 pin replacement bulb on their web site and was just wondering where on the web site it was located. Thanks
