LED Anchor light

or... just buy a cheaper anchor light, e.g. the Davis Megalight. Draw is
110mA and it is listed for $35 at http://www.newjsi.com/detail.aspx?ID=1099.
110mA is still quite moderate and a lot cheaper than a LED light. There's
another disadvantage of LED: 1) when a LED get's older it get's less bright
(that's why Dutch coast gard does not yet approve the use of LED in
navigation lanterns) and 2) the color of the light is more blue-white.

Why not combine the two. The Davis is a good design, even better with
a LED bulb replacment (or is that LED bulb replacment - you know what
I mean)

Hi George

Have a look at the following link:

Looks a good idea and just replace the bulb. Thinking of giving it a go with
the interior lights first.

Hope all is well George.

Cheers

We bought a second anchor light in Mexico and hung it from the backstay. It
had a photovoltaic switch which turned it on at night. It was built by a
cruiser from parts available at Radio Schack and a glass salt shaker. It
saved us from having to dinghy back to the boat from wherever we were every
night. Masthead anchor lights are great but on a clear night and up so high
they look like a star. Finding your boat at night in a crowded anchorage can
be a problem. We put reflective tape on the mast. Shining a flashlight on
the boats made it easy to find ours. On Kerosene anchor lights, I don't
thinnk they are legal as they can't be seen from the required distance. Walt
