Does anyone know of a source for new Yamaha outboards at the least expensive price?

Fair-traded

Chip, I think Yamahas are fair-traded and will be the same price all over. Your best bet may be to shop around for price matching and find places that will not charge for delivery or not have to charge sales tax. Try www.defenderus.com. I'm not sure if they sell Yamaha, though. Also try a google.com search for "Yamaha outboard". There are a lot of links to look at.

Outboard

I did a lot of looking before I bought my Yamaha 6hp/4stroke from these guys last fall. It was a 2000 model and I had to pick it up at the air freight terminal but, no sales tax and the price was better than Defender(which was the next best). It arrivied in its original box unopened. I would buy from them again. Your warranty card is completed by them so if you have problems just take it to your nearest dealer. Good luck, Richard

Outboard pricing

I work in the boat business, and the outboard market is cut-throat. The best prices on outboards will come from a volumn dealer; they are getting the best mfr. discount. We sell motors for $300 over our cost, which is 15% less than the "published" dealer cost. Some dealers sell motors at their cost, and make up the lost revenue on mfr. discounts, rigging (mainly large motors), and accys. Find a volumn dealer, and offer them their price less 10-15% and see what happens. (I just sold myself a 2003 6hp 4-stroke Suzuki for $900 to push my dink around.)

"New" last year model

I bought a 2001 model in Jan '02 and I think I got a good deal from a larger dealer in Texas (where I lived then). It may not be to late to find a left over model. Also boat shows sometimes have deals. I'm very happy with my Yamaha 8 - 4 stroke. marc
