Does anyone have any suggestions for material for re-insulating at V Berth hatch? Mine is old, dry, and like a rock. At first I thought the leak was coming from the hinge but after Epoxing the crap out of that, it kept leaking. Any more ideas? Thanks.

What kind of boat and

what kind of hatch. Older Catatlinas had solid hatches, newer ones have manufacturered clear ones. What do you have?

Then you most likely have a rubber

gasket. Try oiling it, unless it's too far gone. In that case, try an auto shop and find some gasketing that will fit.

What Oil

Would you use for this? I've read Petroleum Jelly works. My v-birth hatch leaks -- when closing you have to hold the hatch open with your head, push the upper corners in, then lock it down. One of these days I'll replace the gasket.

Rubber rejuvinator

Try locating a can of rubber rejuvinator. Rubber rejuvinator will transform dry rubber into a plyable rubber again. We have used it on our galley sink drain stops, mast boot, hatch and window gaskets, hoses, etc. The product will save you a lot of time and money restoring the rubber instead of replacing the material.

Try Vaseline

Some of us will be tempted to make few jocks, but once a year I put Vaseline around the hatches and ports...and it works. Phil

I'd use a rubber lube...

...such as "Son of a Gun". Vaseline is a petroleum-based product and will deteriorate the rubber over time. But in this case, it sounds like time to replace the gasket.

Paul is right

The experts warn us against vaseline as it will break down rubber, even within the 90 seconds it takes on average to....close the hatch tightly. Find a water-based alternative at the drugstore. :)
