So, ( of course) after making the final payment and signing on the dotted line, I was messing about on the boat, scrubbing, and deodorizing, etc, when after wiping the area perfectly clean around the galley thru hull I noticed it had a bit of a weep of water. Not panic time but not just condensation either. As I certainly intend to have this replaced ASAP with whatever is Best of Bronze quality these days. I need help with 2 questions. 1st. I would like the opinions on the Best Haul Out yard facilities on or near Lake Union or say Shilshoal? The boat is currently on Lake Union, and I don't mind going thru the locks to get it to a "better " facility if there is one. But certainly don't want to traverse too far as the seacock is leaking. 2nd Anyone have a Brand Specific Best of the Best Seacock recommendation? Thanks.

CSR is down at Des Moines, and are booking about a month out currently. Where is miller & miller?
Been awhile since ive been on the hard in Seattle but i dont think there is a "bad" yard there. There is a yard at Shilshole. Used to be called Seaview West. Seaview East was on the canal and i think its now CSR? Canal boatyard is also on the canal. I think theres still a few in Lake Union. Lots of choices where you are.
That's my challenge. So many choices, wanted to weed out any of the so so ones.

You might try going the route of getting an estimate for the repair...then see how much they charge for added on service like bottom painting.... or vice versa... get an estimate for bottom paint and add on the through hull change.
If you're planning on doing it your self, there are some yards that are friendlier than others for that...perhaps a few phone calls. The good ones will break down fees so you can easily understand what you're paying for and anticipate where you will save or spend more if the opportunity arises.

Our boat galley sink drain has the standard bronze seacock that threads onto a plastic through hull. Rather than replace the two parts (whichever one is weeping), since you need to haul the boat anyway, maybe it is just a matter of re-bedding the existing through hull. Or is it the seacock that is weeping?
Our through hulls have never leaked, but then again Hunter installed them in such a way they would never leak. There was purpose behind their methods. Rather difficult to remove, however. When we were purchasing our boat in 2002 we had the PO replace three frozen seacocks as a condition of sale.

How did hunter install them so they would never leak? Just curious why all builders wouldn't use such a robust method.
I had to rebed the engine raw water thru hull on our Hunter 30. It wasn't difficult once I got the nut off. This is the place for 3M 5200. Getting the nut off wasn't easy. The thru hull tool loaned to me wouldn't work. I used penetrating oil and a helper on the outside with a big screw extractor.
