I recently got my Inboard Yanmar YSM-8 running (the boat has been sitting in the water, untouched for almost 2 years) and when i put it in reverse and the shaft turned about 1/4 turn, some water came dribbling out of the shaft thruhull. It was only about 2 tbsp and it quit as soon as the prop stopped turning. Is this normal? Can i just tighten the nut to seal up the packing?? It is currently in the slip and i do not have cheap acces to a lift, so i was hoping that if i need to make any repairs, i can do it while it is in the water. ANY help would be appreciated. BTW it is a 1978 26' Seafarer sloop.
