We have a 1999 Yanmar 2GM20F with about 200 hrs on it. Since day one I have noticed a small leak from the weep hole on the seal of the fresh water coolant pump. This usually amounts to approx. a tablespoon full after about 10 hours running. Is this normal, or am I looking at the mechanical seal on the pump giving up? Thanks, s/v Island Hunter

Leaky water pump

Neither of your pumps should drip. The circulating pump has a ceramic seal that should have a very long life. If you can live with the drip, be sure that you check the coolant level frequently. If not, install a new seal. Might be a good time to coordinate a change to the extended life coolant.
