Iam in the process of buying a 1982 33ft.hunter. There are some water stains on the cabin interior walls by the chainplates and also some accumulated water in the storage compartment under the settee.I think the problem is aleaky chainplate, but it also appear as if water may be leaking through the toe rail.Comments and or suggestions would behelpful.

Leaky 33

I have a 1980 H33 - I think a fine boat albeit old and in dire need of major work everywhere (plan for this in the back yard by March). Several years ago I pulled out the chain plates one by one and cleaned the through hole and refilled with silicone caulk. This worked good for a while so I will also have to revisit this during the refit. I am consirdering putting new chainplates on the exterior. I will probably ask for pros and cons on that in the ask all sailors forum later. Please email if you have questions. porter@LCE.com
