leaky center board pivot bolt

I have a 1984 javelin. The center board pivot assembly leaks. The what does the assembly consist of. Would applying a marine caulk to the area before putting on the rubber washer and metal washer help. Or is this to simplistic? The surface is irregular.

that is all there is to do, don't use anything like 5200, just a good caulk, used the 'life' stuff on my jav and mac keel bolts.

don't tighten so tight that all caulk is forced out, any final tightening should be done the next day after caulk has had time to setup. don't over tighten, use a ss lock nut.
