Leaky C-22

Hi I recently did a overhaul to my whole keel and would whole-heartly recommend that just because of the age of your boat. And while you have the keel out you could inspect/repair that keel trunk. Also, the lock down pins are famous for leaking, but not anywhere that much/hr. If your boat is leaking 15-20 gallons/hour under any situation, it is not sea-worthy and should be corrected before Sailing again, IMHO. Catalina direct has all the parts and even a video to show you how to do the keel. Fair Winds.....Joe V.

stop the leak

I had a terrible leak in my 1979 Cat 22. I looked all over for it and discovered it was the lower gudgeon hinge of the rudder. Removed it and installed silicone and the bildge was dry as a bone. Of course this is only one of 120,000,000 possible water entry locations on a Cat 22. Good luck in your search.

Leaks!

John, One more place you might look if you only take on water under outboard power and not sail. Check the large rubber hose between the keel winch and the hull under the cockpit. Under power you may just push enough water up there to cause that kind of intake in an hour. Do not remove this hose while she is in the water or you really will have a leak!!!! Good Luck, Jay
