Have any other of you 260 owners had problems with their main hatch leaking? I seem to get water seeping in through the sides of the hatch because of some warping of the teak. Any advice?
Hi Bruce,Look at the Photo fourm for companionway cover. I had this made and installed on the existing snaps. Solves any leak problem. Can tow with it on and have also been under sail with it on while raining. My wife likes it since she can stay below while I get wet....Just got to Love those spousesjimS/V Java
board on top of lexan needs to be resealed that keeps the slider from coming out. Imperiative that you seal completely between board and lexan all the way across the slider. Be careful when removing slider from fiberglass liner. Suggest two people. Tried by myself once and dropped it on my foot busting three toes. I squealed like a wet pig.Crazy Dave
Dick thanks for your response. What does it look like? There is no picture on the site. Does it use the existing snaps fro the pop top? Did you need to add snaps around the door? Thanks, BVK
We ordered the cover from the HOW store. It's great, not only keeps the rain water out, but keeps dust and irt off the slider. So we always have a nice clean view.We installed the snaps ourselves, very easy. One of the best accessories we've bought. We bought the one piece model that covers both the slider and the companioway. Also keeps the hatch boards protected so we don't oil them as often.
Bruce,First I didn't know about the cover from Ameriseam and mine cost $500. Heavy duty material and custom fitted. They matched up the snaps were the poptop goes and I can leave it on while towing. When you get yours from Ameriseam take some pictures. I would love to see what theirs looks like.PS. I just saw your request for more info this morning.JimSV Javajrseamans@yahoo.com
Jim,First, the cover from AmeriSeam looks identical to your cover, it is made from the same material that the mainsail cover is made of as near as I can tell. I installed the snaps myself. However they did not utilize the existing pop-top snaps, at least in my installation. AmeriSeam sent a bag of snaps seperately per my request. The good thing is that is only cost $100.YMMVTom M.
