Hi

Looking for help to locate a water leak.

I have a 310 that has the fiberglass arch. For some reason I have water leak in the rach itself that I cannot find.

I saw a posting here a few years ago but no one responded so hoping this time someone might have solved the issue.

When I open the inspection port on the side of the arch (port side) I can feel water at the bottom of where the mounting bolts are.

I have sealed these with silicon but to no avail.

The water is leaking down the inside and into the rear cabin.

Any tips on where it might be coming in on the arch - I cannot locate any holes or obvious entry points.

regards
Mark

Anything that pierces the fiberglass can be a source of leaks. Each screw, bolt, etc on the arch can let water in so I would suggest removing and caulking each attachment. If you don't want to remove anything, I have used Captain Tolly's creaping crack sealer with some success in these applications. It is a thin liquid that seems to stop many leaks but you have to apply multiple coats around screw heads and under larger items. Be sure to clean up any drips because the stuff turns black in the sun.
You might also look for some other leaking point of entry on the rear of the boat. I had a leak where the shore power inlet comes into the boat but stanchions, cleats, winches, etc. all have screws and potential leak sites.

Mark: I would suggest that you completely remove the arch and properly recaulk the bedding surfaces. Check to see if the mounting holes are over sized. If this is the case, you may want to fill the holes with epoxy and redrill them.

Caulking for the outside without rebedding is not your best bet when trying to prevent leaks.
