Hunter 320 New York City
Since I bought my boat I had a small leak in the salon of the cabin that dripped onto the nice wood wall panels of my 326. It is only a problem during the rain/over the winter as I was away from the boat and could not clean off the drips in order to prevent water damage. Each time I told the dealer he said its probably a stancion or handle, bring it to me for winter storage and Ill seal it up. THAT WAS TWO SEASONS ago, yes each season the same story. This year when I arrived to spring commission my boat, the port panel was terribly discolored. The dealer agreed to seal everything and the rub rail and replace the panel on the port side. The sealing was done, Im still waiting on the panel. (the leaks were always both sides as well) Anyway. I took 3 hours out of a weekday and decided to myself experiment with high and low pressure water to find out where the leaks are coming from. To my surprise I found it was the LEXAN windows sealed with that DOW CORNING 795 black seal/caulk. More surprising was merely letting a hose drip from the top of the deck onto the windows is whent he leaks are heaviest. Im now negotiating with HUNTER and dealer on a fix. I reported this problem for the first day I was on the boat. It is now out of warranty but I did document it with the dealer since day one, I didn't with HUNTER. I never just put the dealer to the task IMMEDIATELY to find the source of the leak and really fix it. I know, terrible mistake. LESSON LEARNED, but I posting as advice to all if you are taking delivery of a new boat, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, and crush the dealer till its fixed that first year! A lesson well learned as I enjoy this boat very much but this problem while only causing a cosmetic issue is really annoying and left alone will affect resale value. Not to mention the guests and the snobby Beneteau owning friends who quip that their leaks were all promptly found and fixed by their dealers. I know I know, no beers for them! Now to my question. Has anyone replaced this seal/window and is it a big job? If you are in the NYC/LI area and know someone who can fix this can you let me know. Hunter asked me to get an estimate. Thank you. Ed

My leak

I have a 2000 Hunter 340 and I have a small leak that is coming in the forward Salon area. It is a small leak, it only occurs when there is a really strong, wind driven rain. I have yet to find it.
