Hello,
We are new owners of our first sailing vessel.
Very excited to learn from the members at our club.
Looking for ideas on solution to leaking window in the V berth.
Its a bummer - bottom of the iinside is cracked and sealed by previious owner. Likely need to replace, where do we find replacement?
Thanks for any help or advise!:D

What year is your boat? With that, contact this site's store to see if they can get the window for you.

Depending on the year and model of your boat, the front hatch may be made by 'gray industries', which now goes by 'pompanette'. A contact there who has helped me is Tracy West, tracy.west@pompanette.com. They have a website too.

If you need a new rubber seal (gasket) I used the 3/8" EPDM 'D' profile weather stripping (name: Comfort Seal, by DRCR Dennis) with adhesive back from Menards for both the front hatch and port windows. For front hatch, do not split the 2 portions apart for the windows you will need to. Both seem to work well and were about $10 total as compared to Gray's quote for $5.25/ft or $150+ total.

Thanks for advice

;)Actually our boat is a 25' Hunter / 1982. The window that is a problem is the port window the plastic part that opens is the replacement issue. At the bottom where the fastener is tightened is where it is broken, likely from over tightening. Thanks for the advice on the weather stripping, it will come in handy for the hatch which is also leaking a little. ;)

For the leaking hatch, it could come either from failed sealant for the hatch mainframe which is probably the most likely culprit and the whole hatch will need to be removed and resealed. Use of silicon for example west marine brand made by siliaflex is good. Make sure that the old caulk is removed. Use of caulk should be geneours and clean up with alcohol only. DO NOT USE ACTEONE AS IT WILL MARR YOUR WINDOW.

The next item could be the caulk where the hatch pane is caulked with. Remove and recaulk with an architecual grade 100% pure silicon is suggested.

The third issue could be the rubber or vinyl gasket which the window seals up against could be worn out. Get some new from Gray/Bomar industries which is owned by Pompanett I think or vice versa and attach with super glue.

It is one or more of the three issues above.
