Leaking under way

My Catalina 28 MKll takes on water under way. The conventional stuffing box is properly adjusted. When it was bottom painted I did not see any separation. What else might cause such leakage? I have a Universal 25 mxp. I pump the bilge every hour or so and pump several gallons.

Only when underway?

Check any above waterline thruhulls that might submerge when heeled for cracks and splits. Check your keelbolts as well.

You did not specify whether underway by power or sail. You might check the engine cooling & exhaust system hoses and connections as well as all your thru hulls.

check your rudder-post for leaks. Would be helpful for you to define "under-way". Sailing or motoring, rough seas, degree of heal, # of passengers. Also -- is it fresh or salt water? Could it be rain-water settling down from somewhere else in the boat that migrates down while healing. Finally, do you have any leaks in your fresh water supply system? That happened to me one time -- a hose fitting went and I had 20 gallons in the bilge.

It seems to leak under both power and sail. Under power with two people. Salt and continues every hour for 4 or five. May leak a little at rest but not much.

I had a crack in the thru hull that drained the achorwell. Underway it leaked into the bow area. It looked fine from the exterior. Might check for something like that.
