Jonas - Joint

Jonas, I've been up to Stockholm, and have a friend in Rudibee (sic). Loved Sweden and all the Svenska folks over there. Firstly, read the post I just wrote about the hull to deck joint. Second, don't assume the worst.Have a friend hit the outside with a hose while you are inside and focused, must dry it out good. Water does follow gravity, but it does some funny stuff, so a SPECIFIC leak is hard to nail down. I have heard of a fellow using food coloring, non-stain kind, but have doubts... It may take a bit of patience, but keep at it, and silicone is a great fix, especially temorary, for leaks. Try some at the spot you suspect, it is a cheap fix and easily yanked out too. Hope I helped a little... I remember most marinas the yachts were bow in, with an opening at the bow pulpit, are all Swedish sailboats built thataway?

water

The most important thing to remember is that water runs DOWN. The second most important thing to remember is that once you have used silicone nothing else will stick. Childrens modeling clay is good for temporary ( 1 to 3 days ) plugging of leaks. That way you can eliminate the areas that you suspect but can prove are not the problem. When you finally place a patch and the leak stops then you know that you have located the problem.

Yes they are always build like this with an opening in the bow pulpit. Its strange why ours yatch have the bow in on the marinas. But probably a tradition or something like that. Sweden especially around the capital Stockholm we have a quite large archipelago that is nice to sail in Have you heard about some one how have build a sprayhood on a seidelmann 25? I am have a plan to maybe fix that to my boat but need an drawing.

3M 5200 for Rail Hydraulic Intrusion

*! 1.Locate the leak from the inside the cabin at the leaking rail location. 2.Remove the fasteners in the leaking area (this takes 2 people). 3.Fill the hole(s) with 3M 5200. 4.Re-affix the fastener(s). 5.Allow 2-3 days to set. 6.Problem solved.

Check the chainplates & windows

I have never had a hull to deck joint leak on my boat. I used to have a major problem with the chainplates leaking. You can check out my solution to the chainplates on the S-owners site (Tachyon S-25). I have also had problems with the windows leaking. The wood screws holding the windows in seem to loosen and then the seal breaks. About every 2-3 years I find myself rebedding the windows. I haven't really thought of a good permanent solution to stop the windows from leaking.
