I am experiencing a small leak in the seal (motor to cutter blade/impeller) of my original Jabsco head and am considering replacing the head with a new fresh water Raritan head. I have read that fresh water heads (fresh water taken from the water tanks) reduce the odor of the head because obviously it eliminates the sea water component. Raritan says the replacement should be easy but just to be certain the I can get 3.5 gpm at 10 psi from the water system into the new head.
Has anyone made the change to the Raritan Eloquence (nice name for the function of this device) using fresh water instead of sea water and could you tell me your satisfaction level? Of course the other option is to simply replace the seal or, since the motor/impeller is old replace the rotating unit of the head and keep on going. I think the Raritan will be an upgrade.
