I fear my handrails on the coach house roof are leaking. Has anyone removed and rebedded the rails? Do they match up to the rails inside the cabin with thru-bolts? Thanks a bundle!

They are attached to the coach house with stainless steel screws from the top. They do not align with the interior hand rails. Simply drill out the teak plugs covering the screw heads and remove the screws. If you have the time and patience, you can drill out the exiting holes larger and fill them with an epoxy type filler and then remount the rails, resolving any possible future leakage. Otherwise you can just re-bed with 4200.

Just did what Richard described. Easy job took a long time to sand and refinish the hand rails. You need to be careful they are so long that it felt like they would break in two if not supported when sanding. When you drill out the oversized hole stop once you get through the wood and feel the bit slow down or you will bust through to the inside of the cabin. Make sure you do not drill a larger hole than the rail will cover or it will show once you reinstall the rails. I did not use a sealer just reinstalled after epoxy dried and predrilled for pilot holes for the screws with out drilling through the epoxy. Mark H37C Illusion
