Leaking gas tank

My ericson 27 has a leaking aluminum gas tank we can not ge it out the lazarette. ????

Cut it out replace with plastic? ut part of it out and use he old bottom of a tank as a platcform?

can I mend the tank fom inside ??? Outside???

Replacement is the ONLY rational way to go there is just to much risk

I am not of big fan of plastic tanks for gas as there are bonding issues with plastic that dont exist with a good metal tank as well as smells from fuel tank permeability

In our old E27, we removed the engine to get the tank out. Your only other option is to cut it into pieces small enough to pull it through the quarter berth slot.

Just a word of warning regarding empty gasoline tanks, THEY BLOW UP! if you are planning to do any cutting on one, buy some dry ice and drop a pound or more into the tank before you apply the saw. Displace the oxygen with CO2 and you reduce the explosion hazard. Plan to do the cutting during the same half of the day you apply the dry ice.
