I offered to measure the location of the 2 stringers under the cuddy floor of my DS II for Roger, I guess that I waited too long to reply to the original posting...it's gone. Anyway, I'll attach my drawing to this post. Hope it helps?

Gone but not forgotten

Thank you for doing this, Rod. The boat comes home for some work the day after tomorrow. I have printed out your diagram for reference and addition to my owners manual. Are you measurements on centre or from inner edge to inner edge of the stringers? I assume it is the former, so that still leaves enough room for a 10 inch hatch or inspection port. Thanks again. The ice is just off most lakes around here, so the water is still cold.

Inner edges I think

Roger, I think I measured between the inner edges, since that would give the best idea of what will fit.

so that means that I could put in

a 12 inch Hobie style inspection port! I think they sell those locally as we have a hobie club at our lake. I repaired the centerboard uphaul hole today by retrofitting a pvc threaded nipple into the hole which I threaded with a 3/4" pipe threader. The nipple threads in about an inch and snugs down against the inner cb trunk housing. I placed a copper pipe (plumbing) end cap over the protruding nipple. I drilled a 7/32" hole in the middle of the end cap to allow the uphaul cable to pass. The cap should stop any water from coming inboard. I was going to silicone the bottom end of the nipple, but my test fit was so tight that I wouldn't have been able to get it out without putting some vice grips on the nipple, so there it stays. I'll give it a try and see if any water comes into the bilge area. If that works, then I'll look for a 12" inspection port for the cuddy sole. That would provide good access for a drybag or two.
