Leaking Chain Plates

The sealant around my chain plates port and starboard of the mast is breaking down and allows water to run down the post to the hull. Can remove the plates to replace the sealant or should the mast be stepped? Trying to find the source of a leak that builds up under the cabin sole fore of the salon bilge, this may be a factor. Any other suggestions before i rip the entire boat apart? thanks!

Ceiling Screws?

I've had water leak out of the screws that hold the ceiling panels up. It trickles down onto the fixed ports and onto the salon table. I occasionally have to remove the screws and squirt sealant into the holes, then replace the screws. But no leaks from the chainplate. If I were you, I'd apply 3M 5200 sealant around the edge of the plate, rather than remove the mast and rigging to do it. Way less work!

Hi RobinYou can use your halyards as a temporary shroud, or stay. You may have to add a short heavy line to the shackle end to reach your toerail. Note the position of the turnbuckle,with tape,and use this as a guide to return to.Use two halyards, and replace one chainplate at a time. Use winch for tensioning. Good luck red
