1991 Hunter 28 my starboard chain plate is leaking water into to cabin, it doesn't look too difficult to repair. Secure mast with main and spinnaker halyard starboard side, mark turn buckle thread positions remove and remove chain plate by removing the four exterior screws and loosen the large nut in the cabin and it should screw out - right? Also what type of sealant should I use ? If I'm going about this wrong or leaving something out, please advise. Thanks Misty Seas Ventura Harbor, CA.

Hi Ron, looks to me like you're on the right track...

I've been very pleased with the performance of 3M4200 above the waterline and 5200 below. That is what I would use if it were my project. It might be worth a call to Hunter Marine Customer Service and request their input to your repair plans. They may provide additional technical tips. They always have for me. Terry

One suggestion

This is probably fairly obvious, and may have already been part of your plan, but I would also loosen the port shrouds, after marking the turnbuckles, and then tension the shrouds evenly and symmetrically when you re-tune the rig. Have fun- Rick

RJ and Terry Cox - thanks

RJ and Terry Cox thank you for your suggestions - 3m4200 I'll look into that and RJ I was not going to loosen the port side but that does make sense to me - thank you again.

Hi Ron, just a follow-up note...

Our Home Depot stocks 3M4200, probably at a better price than WM. Terry
