I have a 1983 Hunter 34 and cannot find a leak in my ceiling / headliner. The water appears to be coming from the screw holes used to support the port headliner. I have recaulked every item on the deck, replaced and recaulked the handrails. Can't seem to get the drip to occur with a hose. Wondering if it could be coming from the sliding cabin hatch and migrating down to this area perhaps? (I do not have a dodger). If you have any experience with this please let me know. I can be emailed @ gquinlan1@home.com thanks! George "Feeling Free" Montrose Harbor, Chicago

There have been posts on this leak. You need a dodger and a cover over the hatch area to eliminate this. craig

Companionway slider.

George: The companionway slider on your boat is probably identical to the ones on our H'31. The aluminum extrusions are open on the forward end. When you get rain or hose water on the slider the water can run forward and drain out of the extrusion. The water can then run almost anywhere in the headliner (even run out of the light fixtures). The best fix for the problem is to remove the sea hood and plug up the ends of the extrusion. The easiest way to fix it is to have a cover made for the companionway. It does not totally fix the problem but it definetly helps. Be sure that you do not have any dirt in the track and be sure that the drain holes are not plugged.
