During recent very heavy rain, we have noticed a water leak to the cabin interior. The water is visible on the salon dining table and appears to be discolouring the finish. The water seems to be penetrating at the base of the mast but there is no water actually visible on the cabin ceiling! Has anyone experienced this? If so ideas on how to rectify and what we can do about the highly polished finish on the dining table would be greatly appreciated. Mal Trotter s/v Synergy H340

If you search the forum you will find several discussions on the wiring harness needing to be sealed where it exits the cabin and enters the mast. Usally done with the mast off the boat

drip loop
you can make sure that the wires have a "drip loop" so that water that comes down for above does not enter cabin, this creates another problem of water in the compression post holder, you then need to drill a weep hole so that it goes into the bilge Water leaks are a real pain!

SAME PROBLEM
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2000 340. IT'S COMING DOWN THE WIRES AND INTO THE ACCESS PLATE ABOVE THE TABLE. PROPERLY DONE THE MAST HAS TO BE REMOVED. I REMOVED THE COVERING ON THE DECK (4 SCREWS), REPOSITIONED THE WIRES CAREFULLY AND CAULKED WITH A WATERPROOF SEALANT. THEN WENT INSDIE THE CABIN, REMOVED THE ACCES PLATES (2) AND CAULKED FROM IN THERE. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A COMMISIONING PROBLEM AND NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. THIS SHOULD WORK FOR YOU ALSO, IT'S WHAT YOUR BOAT YARD WOULD TRY.

Been there, fixed that 
I had the exact problem with my 340 when it was delivered. I would find a puddle of water standing on the table with no sign of where it came from, as the overhead was dry. It drove me nuts trying to figure out where it was coming from. Eventually I found a drip of water on the tip of one of the bolts holding the mast plate in place. I believe water was slowly building up in the overhead during a rainstorm and when the boat would roll from a wake it would pour onto the table. After rebedding those bolts the problem disappeared and has never reappeared.

Lazy man's fix
Had the same problem but only after a very very hard rain, and not much water. Removed the plate on the cabin ceiling and placed a natural sponge in the post. Have not had a leak since. Figured what little water there was would be absorbed by sponge and then evaporate. Chris Festina Tarde 340 # 107
