Leaking bow water tank

We recently purchased a 1991 Catalina 28.We love the boat but are slowly discovering minor problems. Most recently I decided to fill the bow water tank. Up until then we relied on the starboard tank. After putting in what I judged to be a sufficient quantity of water I went below to try and determine how full the tank was. I saw a stream of water flowing from underneath my V berth down the middle of the cabin to the bilge which was being automatically emptied by my bilge pump. Has anyone had a similar problem? What's the fix?

I had the same problem with a starboard tank on a C-30. The problem was a crack in the bottom of the tank. It was installed to sit on 2 wooden blocks to raise it off the floor, allowing hosing to run under it. This created a pressure point causing the crack. I would check the outlet fitting first, to be sure its not leaking from there. If not, you'll have to take the tank out and inspect. If cracked, I would bet Catalina has the exact replacement tank. They did for my 1984 C-30. Alan Bier

Have you checked the clamps to the hoses? That would be my first check. You should be able to fill both tanks from the bow tank fill if you have all valving open. You're going to love this boat!! Terry Jack C-28 Amazing Grace #353
