My 88 Hunter 26.5 has two separate bilge sumps over the keel bolts. They are not connected as water cannot go between them. The forward sump is where my bilge pump is and never accumulates water. The same green anti-freeze has been in there for three years. The aft sump always has water in it to about 2" below the cabin floor. Whenever I pump this aft sump out it slowly fills again to that same level. The water is not coming from above so it must be coming in from below the cabin floor. I don't have a hole in the hull or the boat would sink. Is there an annular space between the cabin floor and the hull that could hold water? If so, how can I drain it better? Is there another access point? Carrying around all that extra water has got to slow me down not to mention the problems associated with freezing.

just a wild guess

This probably doesn't apply in your case but my old (1978) Hunter 27 has a dry bilge UNLESS I use the cooler (Ice Chest). Seems Hunter thought it would be a great idea to have it drain into the bilge...!!!! It's right next to the galley sink, which drains overboard via a thru hull fitting with a seacock. Seems like they would have used a Y connecter to drain both into the same thru hull.

Another guess

On my 1990 Hunter 30 I have the same problem. The water comes from the drain in the floor of the head. When my wife showers the water drains into the forward bilge. My bilge pump is located in the rear section. I think you said yours is the back bilge, mine is the front. But like John stated, check the drain from the ice box and the shower drain. Maybe someone else will have another idea.
