Leaking at the mast of my Precision 23

I have had my 1989 Precision 23 for a little over a year now and have noticed that some water does come in where where the mast is anchored into the berth when it rains (where the dome light is (or was) anchored in the berth). Is this serious? The mast is down at this time and the boat out of the water. Could the damage be serious if it has been leaking long or can I simply recaulk and reseat to prevent further leakage?

I appreciate your advice.
