I have a 1979 Oday 22. I have noticed after a day of sailing I take on water and it settles in the area near the battery and water tank underneath the starboard side of the cockpit. When I stand in the back corner of the boat, after its been out all day, water comes out of the little hole you can see in the picture. The boat doesn't take on water when it sits, only when I sail. I am planning a trip to Canada and would like to get this figured out before I go. Any advice? Thanks.

I would guess the hole is there for a reason
does the boat have a centerboard? Water can come up the center board trunk and out the keel bolt hole (or other areas) when sailing. If the water gets deep enough it should spill into the bilge. I would get an automatic bilge pump if you don't have one. I don't sail in the Great Lakes but my guess is an O'Day 22 is not the boat to cross them in. I would stay close to shore.

Yeah there is a center board and I do have an automatic pump in the bilge, but that has stayed dry thus far. Its a 50 mile trip North-Northwest to Leamington, ON from my marina. So the source is the centerboard area?

50 miles is not that far. Please plan the try with a good weather window. All boats leaks. My 2002 Catalina 36 leaks. I think from the keel bolts. I used to have a San Jaun 21 with a centerboard and it used to leak water in the keel bolt. How much water is coming in? It will drain into bilge, right?

There hasnt been enough to drain into the bilge. I would think that it would go to the bilge before it went to where its going. The Oday has all of these goofy little compartments that you would think would all drain into the bilge, I don't want it to rot out the cockpit floor supports.
