Leak under steering pedestal

What is the best way to repair a leak under the steering pedestal? The water does not seem to be comming in around the mounting bolts.

Not sure, but planning to re-bed...

I just purchased a 1981 Catalina 30 and I have the same problem... Not sure what the "best way" would be, but my plan is to loosen the bolts enough to raise the pedestal a bit, scrape out whatever is underneath and lay down a fresh layer of bedding compound.Hopefully someone that has dealt with this before will provide some first hand insight... If it ever stops raining up here and I get a chance to try, I'll re-post.

stearing box bolts

I had the same problem on a 88C30 When I took off the stearing colom It was fine It was all glassed around the bolts my leak was from a second set of bolts in the bottom of the stering box where the cabels come from the rudder.It would of been afast fix but I had the hole thing apart and it took me most of the weekend to get it working again all I needed was alittle sealer between the washers on the bottom of the steering box .
