I am getting about 11 gallons of water each day in the battery compartment of my O'Day 192. I having been using the bilge pump daily. The foam on the interior wall of the compartment is wet and has fallen off. There appears to be some repair attempt by the previous owner. I bought the 1987 model this year. It had been out of the water for 12 years. Any idea as to where to start looking for the leak and how to repair it? Where is the centerboard pivot point? Has anybody had the same problem? Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Cockpit drain

Does the 192 have a cockpit drain with a thru-hull on the transom? If so, than take a look there. I was inspecting the one on my 22, and with a light twist it broke off in my hand. The fitting looked and felt solid with cursory inspection, but a little more looking revealed that there was a large crack in the threads. If I had it in the water instead of on a trailer, it would definately would have leaked. I think this contributed to water in my bilge after a rain. If you are in the water, wave action might put the fitting underwater and give you the water you see. Brad
