My O'day 19 has developed a mysterious leak. Whether at dock or underway, it takes on several inches of water that settles in the bilge. I see no signs of hull damage or bad seals around deck hradware. Is it possible that water is getting in around the centerboard trunk? Is a centerboard leak even possible on the 19? Also, I see water in the compartment underneath the cabin floor. Any advice?

silly question but have you

We have a1964 rhodes 19 with a swing keel...on our starboard side below the floor boards there is a drain plug...ours has taken on water in this area many times...we used some plumbers puddy and its working great now dry. Or yes the housing around the centerboard trunk may have a slight crack in the fiber glass...inspect it while applying lateral pressure and if a crack is there you will see it. any thru hulls??..depth instruments?...check them. We allways get a leak in our mast post as it slides through the deck. Any photos? Captian? rob.maas@bermstudios.com

Leak

If you trailer your boat, and it has water in it, check the bottom when you get it up on the trailer...it will be leaking out rather than in. My money would be on the center board area, that's where all the stress is. I used Goop as a sealer...works great.
