1983 Oday 25. Cleaning out all of inside lazzerrette / storage area under cockpit for winter. I periodically have seen a small amount of water pooling inside at the center where there is a small fiberglass wall for holding the water tank and forward of that where the bulkhead between cabin and cockpit comes down to the keel. Sometimes the water is there, sometimes not, so I’m thinking it is surface water, but cannot see any telltale signs on port or starboard hull or bulkeheads. Other than that, she is dry. Before I pull her, wanted to ask if anyone had this experience. Thanks.

I have an Oday 25 also. Leaking water from the ports, grab rails, stanchions, etc will finds it's way under the cockpit. There is a space between the deck and the cabin top and water will run down the cabin top to the sides of the boat. From there the water will run aft to the end of the cabin top and then run down the sides of the boat. I have just finished rebuilding my mast step (rotted out) and am very familiar with how water drains in the Oday. Check the inside of the hull where the cabin top ends aft to see if water is running down the inside of the hull. The cabin liner will be wet or stained.
On my 1980 the cockpit wall of the fuel locker is a separate piece with small bolts and nuts in the fore, aft and bottom holding it in place. All are loose. I looked under the area after a rain and saw water had leaked from that area.
The cockpit drain hose and fittings could also leak and run down into that area.
My major water leaks were the anchor locker hose and deck/hull joint. Fixed those and now the boat is dry.

My 1983 O'Day 25 is now fairly watertype. There is just a small amount of dripping from the stuffing box which is normal. My various through-hulls do not leak, but they are old and I plan to replace them this year. I'll probably seal up a couple that are no longer used (disconnected knot-meter wheel; disconnected depthsounder transponder).
There was leakage at the chainplates before I bought the boat and while they had been sealed up, I resealed both of those points on the deck since you definitely don't want to compromise your bulkheads. I also had to remove rotted wood under the mast step and reseal that using the approach that Rich used on his 25 (lay in fiberglass resin so that any future leaks don't compromise the structural integrity of the deck). I fixed a few minor leaks at different points on the deck such as the rod connectors supporting the forward hatch. Finally, the bow ring was rotted out and the hose for draining the anchor locker had broken leaking rainwater directly into the boat. Once all those were fixed, she has been pretty dry. But with a 30 year old boat, you've got to be vigilant. By the way, I almost forgot to mention the 3 gallons of diesel fuel that leaked into the bilge a couple of years ago. Check those fuel hoses if you have a diesel.
Anyhow, I try to take them in stride when they occur, and track them down and fix them when they crop up.
