Same problem

I had the same problem four years ago&it was real hard on the sole in cabin with the water coming in. It was the little piece of teak at the inside end on top of the sliding plexiglass. It stops the plexiglass from coming out all the way but more importantly it diverts the water from the rain etc to the side gutters so it doesn't come into the boat. I had to take this off and rebed it (used silicone) and that ended the water coming in. You may have a similar problem area like this. I disassembled one of the side rails to get it out but I think if you are lucky you can push down on the center of the plexiglass and the plexiglass will come out to work on. Do you feel lucky?

On early boats, the teak was cut too short

Mel, On some of the 26's, the teak strip that Bob mentioned was cut too short. This also allows the water to run off the front end of the hatch and not into the guttters. The gutters are pretty good at getting munged up. I usually need to spend some time cleaning the sliding areas up in the spring. The side benefit is it makes the hatch easier to slide. Leak

Mel; I always have wondered houw you are doing my friend. How is your wife. Better yet, call Gregg Emerson at Hunter and he will give you my phone. I would like to hear from you old rascal. My daughter is 14 and she and my wife, Scratchy, are the two best things in my life. I still have the shop security dog or should I say my son Mr. Shots or Schati. Schatzi still searchs out bass boat trailer tires to mark them. Two areas to look at. Mike who also knows me pointed out the teak board that is on top of the slider in the rear that is only accessible if you remove the slider from the hatch. Be careful as not to drop on your toe or you will go ouch with a broken toe like I did. I am crazy for stunts like that. Oh well. If wood piece goes all the way across top, then simply recaulk and that should take care of the problem. If wood is too short, advise me and I will get one for you. Also check the caulking on the other piece that you grab hold of. Call Gregg at Hunter and get my phone you old rascal. I would like to hear from you. Crazy DAve

Cover Photo

Had the same problem on my WB 19. It seems to go away when you raise the trailer hitch end up several feet during storage. My cure was the simple cover consisting of two pieces of PVC pipe and a 4'X 7' piece of plastic tarp. See my photo essay about mildew in the photo archives for a picture.

Same problem, Dave

We have the same problem, Dave. We notified Hunter last year and they sent us a replacement board which was also too short. We would appreciate getting a longer one. Thanks, Dave. You've always helped us in the past.

Leaky hatch

I have a Hunter 25. I'm not exactly sure which hatch you are referring to. My overhead hatch is covered by a full dodger most of the time so I don't have leaks there. When my dodger is down I have little "gutter tracks" and I've never had a problem. They might be add ons and they really look quite simple. Never had a problem with hatch boards leaking but then again, I had them custom made 6 months ago and they'd better not be leaking.

hatch leak

Hunters solution to me was to replace the retainer strips for the hatch boards with ones that go the full lenth of the opening and to seal them with white silicone, I did it five years ago and it still good Bill
