We have a hunter 23.5 build in 1993 there and tons of fun with it. I noticed a substantial crack on the compression post plate, inside the cabin above the centerboard housing assembly.
Attached are some photos showing the issue. I only have a 4 week sailing season and would like to keep things somewhat simple.
The boat is on the trailer, and i thought I would support the CB from below, remove the 3/4 Hexbolt, add a big fabricated stainless steel
washer and seal wit 3M 4200.
Do you guys think this will fix the issue for now or do I need to replace the compression post plate all together?
Do you guys think the corrosion occurred due to electrolysis because of different metals? There was a lot of white powdery looking
stuff around the ground wire (see photos). Is the compression post plate actually aluminum or ss?
And would you guys recommend putting a sacrificial anode on the keel or the Plate above the CB bracket?
Has anyone had a similar issue?
