Don't mess with it
I wouldn't mess with it. The boat should sail fine as it is. I would think that adding the extra weight could have unpredictable and perhaps detrimental results. One such effect will be more stress on your rig in strong winds since you won't be spilling the wind as you heel in the gusts. For sure you won't be class legal and will jeopardize your re-sale value. If you feel over-powered in the Bay, think about reefing sooner, especially if you have a tall rig. On a summer afternoon in the "slot" a double reef might be necessary. Old, baggy sails will also increase heel.
