I have gotten knocked around, while trying to dump the MAIN, for the last time. I am interested in the hardware and layout for running lines to the cockpit, for the MAIN on a 1980 33. I have the winch pads on the cabin roof but no winches. I have two winches mounted on the mast. Does anyone have any pictures of their rig for doing this? I do not want to break the mast foot loose from the compression post in order to mount one of those "hook everything here" plates I see at the base of so many masts. Thanks! Good idea, now how to...

accomplish. I'd like to do the same with my H37C. The halyard comes out of the mast on the strbrd side. My mast step is probably different than yours but I can attach blocks using s/s eyebolts to replace the bolts holding the mast plate. This is how I attached a boom vang. I would then mount a rope clutch and install a new winch on the strbrd side mounting plate. Haven't spec'd it out to know if I'll need a deck organizer to change the angle back to the winch. Then for a couple grand I could install a Dutchman and I'd really be ready. :}

I didn't do it but...

Every line on my '80 33 runs to the cockpit. (main, jib, spin halyard / port & stbd trav / top lift / main sheet / two jiffy reefs) I can, and do, sheet my main and jib while seated at the helm. I don't have any photos with me but I will see if I can take some this weekend and send them to you. Send me your e-mail address edonovan@pemnet.com Ernie
